What is the closing fee on Amazon India?

Amazon's closing fee explained: the flat fee per item by price band for Easy Ship, Self Ship and FBA, how FBA fee groups work, and a worked example.

By the SellerAssist DeskUpdated 4 min read

The closing fee is a flat amount in rupees that Amazon.in takes from every item you sell. It sits next to the referral fee, which is a percentage. Unlike the referral fee, the closing fee does not depend on your category for Easy Ship and Self Ship. It depends only on the item price and how you ship.

How is the Amazon closing fee tiered?

Amazon sets four price bands. The higher the item price, the higher the fee. These rates apply from 7 September 2026:

Item priceEasy ShipSelf ShipFBA
₹0 to ₹300₹2₹20₹14 to ₹27
₹301 to ₹500₹23₹26₹15 to ₹23
₹501 to ₹1,000₹48₹51₹30
Above ₹1,000₹79₹101₹55 or ₹75

Item price here is what the customer pays, including any shipping charge they pay. FBA above ₹1,000 is ₹75 for chimneys, refrigerators and other major appliances, and ₹55 for everything else.

How do FBA closing fee groups work?

For FBA items up to ₹500, Amazon places each fee category in a group, and each group pays a different closing fee. Above ₹500, the FBA closing fee depends only on price, with one higher rate for major appliances above ₹1,000.

Ethnic Wear and Sarees, Health and Personal Care, Pet Supplies: Closing fee depends on your fee group. Check the fee preview in Seller Central.

The group belongs to the fee category, not the product. If your listing is mapped to a different fee category than you expect, your FBA closing fee can change too.

What does the closing fee look like on a real order?

Example. Our beauty example is “Matte lipstick, pack of 2”, priced at ₹449. Its closing fee is:

  • Easy Ship: ₹23 closing fee
  • Self Ship: ₹26 closing fee
  • FBA: ₹23 closing fee

Amazon adds 18% GST to each. The referral fee and shipping come on top.

Now watch the band edges. An item at ₹1,000 pays ₹48 with Easy Ship. One rupee more and it pays ₹79. If your price sits just above a band edge, a small price cut may leave you with more money. Check the referral fee at the new price too.

Is there any way to avoid the closing fee?

No. Every item sold pays a closing fee, whichever channel you use. What you can control is the band you land in, through your price, and for FBA, making sure your listing sits in the right fee category.

Where do I check my own closing fee?

The fee preview in Seller Central shows the closing fee for each listing. The rates on this page come from Amazon’s fees and pricing page, checked 22 October 2026.

For the referral fee and shipping in your category, open your page in Amazon fees by category, for example kitchen, fashion and apparel or electronics and mobile accessories. Then put all three fees into the profit calculator to see what you keep.
